The Fire Within
The Seasons Within: A Journey to Stillness - Chapter 13
(Theme: Reconnecting with Passion and Purpose)
Leila stood by the fireplace, watching the flames flicker and dance.
The fire crackled softly, filling the cabin with its warmth, its light. It had been weeks since she arrived, and yet something inside her still felt like embers waiting to ignite.
For so long, she had lived by expectations—ticking off tasks, chasing success, measuring her worth by what she accomplished.
But here, in the quiet of the mountains, she had begun to ask herself a different question:
"What truly sets my soul on fire?"
And for the first time in years, she had no immediate answer.
The Search for Spark
She stepped outside, the crisp air biting at her skin, the scent of pine lingering in the wind.
The forest was changing. Buds were beginning to form on branches. The earth was waking up.
And so was she.
She wandered, letting her hands graze over tree trunks, letting her feet follow paths without purpose.
She thought of the things that once made her come alive—writing stories as a child, painting on rainy afternoons, dancing in the kitchen when no one was watching.
When had she stopped?
When had she decided that joy had to be earned?
Rekindling the Flame
She reached a clearing where the sun broke through, spilling golden light onto the damp earth.
She closed her eyes.
Breathed in.
Breathed out.
And whispered to herself, What do you long for?
The answer didn’t come all at once.
It arrived in fragments—an image, a feeling, a forgotten dream.
Not a career title, not a goal, not a list of achievements.
But the simple truth of what made her feel alive.
She opened her eyes and smiled.
It was time to stop waiting.
It was time to begin again.
A Promise to Herself
Back at the cabin, she opened her journal and wrote:
"I will not wait for permission to do the things that make me come alive. I will not silence my passions in the name of practicality. I will not dim my light to fit a world that asks me to be smaller. I will follow what sets my soul on fire."
She underlined the words.
Let them settle deep inside her.
She had spent so long existing.
Now, she was ready to live.
Mindfulness Practice: Reconnecting with Passion
Tonight, take a moment to reflect on what truly brings you joy.
- Close your eyes and think back to childhood. What did you love to do before the world told you who to be?
- What activities make time disappear? What makes your heart race with excitement?
- Write down three things that bring you alive.
- Choose one. And make a small promise to yourself: I will do this again.
Passion isn’t about being the best.
It’s about remembering what makes you feel most like yourself.
Leila placed another log on the fire, watching as the flames leapt higher.
For the first time in years, she didn’t just feel warm.
She felt alive.
